Growth is a Serious Game with a focus on Narrative. It is made by a team of seven students from the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) and two students from the University Utrecht (UU). It was made in eight weeks time. In the game a brother and sister that live in Ethiopia have lost their parent due to the drought in the region. They must work their way towards the "promised land", towards the north. The game shows how society pushes standards onto the different sexes and how these two children push their way out of it.

My Role

Contrast (c#)

Contrast is a short 2D Narrative Driven Puzzle experience. You play as a black creature within a world that is only black and white. You see a white create, but is disappears as it tries to cross between its black world to your white world. It is your goal to help the black creature through the world, by creating paths with your shadows, killing enemies with the shadow of a knife, and chopping trees with the shadow of a hammer. In the end, you sacrifice yourself so the white creature can live. It is an emotional story that is played by one player, but can be felt by all.

Blobtricity (c#)

Blobtricity is an applied game which had as goal to get people more aware of the CO2 emission. Ofcourse are people already aware of the general CO2 emissions but a lot of people don't know that our electricity usage takes a big part of the emission as well, especially the internet usage. So in this game your goal is to reduce a certain amount of electricity in the city. You could achieve this by turning off lights, but it doesn't reduce that much electricity and can be quite dangerous. Then you notice those blobs that are walking around the city with their mobile phone in their hands. You try to keep them off their phone by helping them and you see the electricity reduces by a lot. You start helping more of the blobs with their goal. Does the blob needs to go to a certain place in the city? Bring him there instead of letting him use his phone.

My Role

Tribal Trials (c#)

Tribal Trials is a couch competitive party game where you have to fight each other in an open arena. Two to four players fight to get the most points. After six minutes, the player with the most points wins. The game was build in eight weeks with a team of five people. It has two characters options which creates gameplay diversity and more fun.
